The individual calf roping event is the event in which the teamwork between cowboy and horse is most evident. The cowboy lassos the calf from horseback and then ties off the rope to the saddle. The cowboy dismounts while the horse maintains a steady tension on the rope, moving with the calf. The cowboy must turn the calf over and tie three of the four legs together. Note the pink tie-down rope in the cowboys mouth. This is also called a piggin' string.
