About this spot
Poda Protected Areas is one of the richest in birds wetlands in Bulgaria. It is known as the territory with highest number of bird species per one square km. The Protected area is managed by the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds / BirdLife Bulgaria and has a visitor centre, one photography hide and two birdwatching hides that can be also used for photography of birds flying past. Other than birds, the site is also known for the occurrence of Etruscan shrew (the smallest mammal) and a great diversity of dragonflies.
