About this spot
This spot is under the bridge Pont St-Michel, Promenade René Capitan along the Seine.
The Pont Saint-Michel links the Place Saint-Michel (on the left bank) to the Boulevard du Palais on the Ile de la Cité, in Paris. It owes its name to the vicinity of a chapel dedicated to Saint-Michel which existed in the Royal Palace (at level 8 of the current Palace of Justice, south-east of the Sainte-Chapelle).
This bridge, originally built in 1378, was rebuilt several times, most recently in 1857. Before the middle of the 19th century, it opened on the Left Bank side on Place du Pont-Saint-Michel and on the side of Île de la Cited on rue de la Barillerie.
The Promenade René-Capitant is a way located on the banks of the Seine in the Sorbonne district. It is named after the politician René Capitant (1901-1970). This promenade on the bank along the Seine, facing the Ile de la Cité, corresponds to the old Port Saint-Michel which was renamed in 2000 as " Promenade René-Capitant ".
