About this spot
Higger Tor is a 434m high summit plateau with commanding panoramic views from the top over towards the surrounding moors and gritstone edges. Notable views include the Iron Age hill fort below of Carl Wark as well as Stanage Edge which stretches out in the distance.
The tor itself is just over the Yorkshire border and lies within the boundaries of the city of Sheffield, meaning it’s a go-to place for many photographers.
With its easy access and close proximity to
Sheffield it makes it probably the second most shot location in the Peak District, after Mam Tor. There’s no denying, a good sunrise at the weekend and you might just be fighting for a spot.
