Gotthard Pass (in German: Gotthardpass) is a mountain pass in the Swiss Alps that connects the canton of Uri in central Switzerland with the canton of Ticino in southern Switzerland. It is located at an elevation of 2,106 meters (6,909 feet) above sea level and is the highest mountain pass in Switzerland. The pass is an important transportation route, as it is part of the A2 motorway and the Gotthard railway line. It is also a popular tourist destination, with many visitors coming to the pass to enjoy the beautiful alpine scenery and to take part in outdoor activities such as hiking and skiing.
