About this spot
The Flagey building is the former NIR broadcasting center in the municipality of Ixelles in the Brussels-Capital Region.

The building in Lower Ixelles borders with its north facade on Place Eugène Flagey and with its western facade on the smaller Place Saint-Cross and the ponds of Ixelles.

The plans for the building were part of an architectural competition in which an innovative building was sought. The jury included Victor Horta and Henry Van de Velde. It was designed by Joseph Diongre in 1933, construction lasted from 1935 to 1938.

The Art Deco building, nicknamed the package boat, was partially listed as a protected monument in 1994.
