Top places to photograph in Venice in 2024

These are the very best Venice Instagram spots, curated by the PhotoHound team. If you've got limited time here, these are the must-see locations to shoot while you're in Venice!

Campanile di San Marco

One of the most imposing landmarks of Venice, the belltower of St Mark is almost 100m high. From the top there are amazing views all around Venice and on clear day with good visibility one can even see the Dolomites to the North.

Riva degli Schiavoni

Some of the classic shots can be made from this eternally busy spot in Venice. This is the most popular place from which to take a gondola ride and the views across the sea are amazing.

Ponte dei Sospiri (Bridge Of Sighs)

A beautiful white limestone bridge connecting the Doge’s palace with the prison. It is one of the classic shots of Venice that is a must for first-time visitors.

Scala Contarini del Bovolo

This architectural gem is well hidden from most tourist’s eyes. The famous “snail” staircase is a part of 15th century palace that is open to visitors. It is well worth visiting for architectural photography as well as views of Venetian rooftops from the top.

Ponte dell'Accademia

Ponte dell’Accademia is a busy wooden bridge arching over the Grand Canal. From here you have an amazing view east across the canal with the imposing Basilica Santa Maria della Salute. Another classic image of Venice.

Ponte di Rialto (Rialto Bridge)

Rialto is the oldest and most beautiful bridge spanning the Grand Canal in Venice. This 16th century bridge has recently been renovated and now truly shines in its white glory. A must-visit for a photographer.

Piazza San Marco (St Mark's Square)

St Mark’s Square was at the heart of the old Venetian republic. This was the political, religious and social centre of the city and still nowadays it is the busiest place.

Burano Bridge Views

Burano is a small island north of Venice, known for its colourful houses and lace making tradition. It is well worth spending half a day here and exploring the small canals for photo opportunities.

This is my favourite spot for canal views in Burano. You have two bridges and can shoot north or east, both sides are very pretty.

This rooftop terrace offers 360 views on Venice old town. It is located on the top of T Fondaco dei Tedeschi department store near the famous Rialto Bridge.
