Zion's Church is located 220 miles north of the Arctic Circle. This Lutheran church was built in 1779 and is the oldest church in Greenland. The building was restored in 1907 and eventually moved inland and expanded. It now sits on the cliffs looking out towards the icefjord. The area bordering the church is very scenic with views of the bay, Ilulissat Hospital and the colorful residential section of town. During summer months the church is surrounded by patches of blooming cottongrass.
