About this spot
The Cascade Complex is a large limestone staircase leading up the hillside just north of the city centre and is probably one of the most visited sights in the city.

Construction began in 1971 and initial completion was 1980. Further construction occurred during the 2000's. At the very top, there are the foundations for a further art gallery but construction has stalled and the exit is via a rather disappointing temporary walkway- in contrast to the grandness of the rest of the site!

As you ascend / descend, you'll pass many modern art installations (held by Cafesjian Museum of Art), fountains, water features and planted areas. From the top, you get great views across the city to Mount Ararat in the distance.
