About this spot
Constructed between 1937 and 1938, the bunker of the German Festungsfront Oder-Warthe-Bogen (Ostwall) was part of an extensive 32 km underground tunnel network connecting all the Ostwall fortifications. On January 28, 1945, the Red Army initiated an assault on the Ostwall's central region, leading to three days of fierce combat. Eventually, the Russians achieved a breakthrough in both the central and southern areas of the fortification system.
