About this spot
Wat Bang Riang, also known as Wat Rat Upatham, is perched atop Khao Lan Hill, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding verdant landscape and distant mountains. The temple complex is an architectural marvel, showcasing traditional Thai and Burmese architecture and intricate artistry that will leave you in awe.
Upon entering the temple grounds, you are greeted by an imposing 29-meter-tall statue of Guan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy. This golden statue's serene countenance, coupled with her protective posture, sets the tone for the peaceful and spiritual ambience that pervades the temple complex.
Another significant structure is the large seated Buddha statue, known as Phra Puttamingmongkol Akenakkiri Buddha. This image, perched on a lotus flower, looks out over Phuket, and is believed to provide protection and blessings to the island and its inhabitants.
The two-storey pagoda, known as Chedi Phutthathambanlue, is a must-visit within the complex. The pagoda houses relics of Buddha and offers an insight into the intricate Buddhist iconography.
