About this spot
Vinomerski steljniki / Fern and Birches at Vinomer is a unique cultural/natural heritage of Bela Krajina. The ferb was traditionally grown among sparse birch forests for animal litter. This was harvested in autumn and used to accommodate domestic animals over the winter. Nowadays only a few places like this exist, they are considered an important part of Slovenian heritage and are regularly maintained even if not used anymore.
