About this spot
Devils Tower is an impressive butte, possibly laccolithic, composed of igneous rock. It is located in the Black Hills in Crook County and rises 386 m above the Belle Fourche River. It was the first US national monument, established in 1906 by President Theodore Roosevelt. This is an easy spot from which to shoot Devils Tower right on the road. It is a great angle to capture the sunrise light on the tower.
