About this spot
The Torre delle Ore, or Clock Tower, is a landmark in the heart of Lucca, Italy. With its height of 50 meters, it is the tallest tower in the city. The tower was built in the 14th century and originally belonged to a private family. In 1490, it was bought by the Lucca Republic and turned into a public clock tower. The tower's clock mechanism is still in working order and is one of the oldest in Italy - be careful - you are standing next to the bells and it is VERY loud...

One of the highlights of visiting the Torre delle Ore is the fantastic view from the top. The tower offers panoramic views of the city of Lucca, including the nearby Torre Guinigi, which is known for its rooftop trees. The view from the top of the tower is simply stunning and is well worth the climb.
