Tikal is a major Mayan ruin located in the rainforest of Guatemala within Tikal National Park. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.Tikal is thought to be the capital of one of the most powerful kingdoms in ancient Maya. The site contains a half dozen major temples or pyramids and many other ancient structures. The oldest structures date back to 4 BC.
