About this spot
The Temple of Heaven ((天坛 - Tiantan in Chinese) was built in 1420 and is the largest building for religious worship in China. It was originally used by the Ming and Qing emperors to pay homage to Heaven and to pray for a year of rich harvest. This is the Northern gate entrance to the complex. The Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests is completely wooden with no nails.
