Shoot with care
There is a middle school on park grounds, near the castle. Respect that this is a place of study/ work. Take care not to approach the school and avoid photographing students or teachers.

About this spot
Takada castle is located in Takada park, surrounded by a moat.
The original castle was constructed in 1614. There were several earthquakes, and in 1802 most of the castle had to be rebuilt after a fire. In 1872 the castle was dismantled, the moat filled in and part of the grounds became a school. In 1971 Takada park was established and over 4,000 cherry blossom trees were planted.
20 years later in 1991, Joetsu city decided to rebuild part of the original castle, the moats and bridge based on the original plans.
Today it`s a popular tourism spot especially in the spring when the cherry blossoms are in bloom.
