About this spot
Taal Volcano, situated on the island of Luzon in the Philippines, is a complex volcano known for its unique geological features. It is located within a lake called Taal Lake, which itself is nestled within the caldera of a much larger, prehistoric volcano. Taal Volcano is one of the smallest and yet most active volcanoes in the Philippines, having erupted more than 30 times since its first recorded eruption in 1572.

The volcanic island features a smaller lake, called the Crater Lake, which contains Vulcan Point, a tiny islet that has the distinction of being the world's largest island within a lake on an island within a lake on an island. This exceptional landscape attracts numerous tourists, who can enjoy activities such as hiking to the crater, horseback riding, and taking in the breathtaking views of the surrounding area. Tagaytay City, located nearby, offers a convenient base for visitors to Taal Volcano, with various accommodations, dining options, and transportation to the volcano.
