About this spot
Ta Phin is nestled in the valley surrounded by mountains, corn fields and rice terraces. It is home to the Red Dzao and Black Hmong. The village is a great place to see traditional rural life.

The locals are very friendly and will be more than happy to sell you souvenirs—silver bracelets, rings, or necklaces. The Hmong are known for their embroidered fabrics with designs of flowers, plants, and birds. Ta Phin is the main supplier of brocades for shops in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The Red Dzao have perfected medicinal herb bathing. They collect leaves from the forests and boil them in a hot bath. It acts as a treatment for rheumatism, muscle fatigue, flu, etc.

Spirituality is part of Ta Phin’s village life. Spiritual ceremonies, healing rituals, and animal beliefs have been passed down through the generations. Every month they gather around a sacred fire for prayers and offerings to their ancestral spirits.
