World class gardens and classical architecture make Stourhead Gardens a must visit place. When it opened in the 1740s it was described as ‘ A living work of art ‘ a statement that is difficult to argue against. With it’s beautiful lake, bushes and shrubs, tree canopies, hidden grotto it really is a special place. A photographer’s dream especially in Autumn. There is also a hotel, restaurant, shop, second- hand bookshop as well as toilets and other facilities.
