About this spot
The term 'mining cathedral' refers to the large and richly decorated churches that the various mining companies in the Limburg Kempen had built in their working-class neighborhoods. The mining cathedral, also called St. Theodardus Church, is undoubtedly one of the most monumental in Limburg. The church was built between 1939 and 1943 in Byzantine style, under the direction of architect Henri Lacoste. Be sure to notice the beautiful courtyard and the stained glass windows!
