About this spot
Roos Tor is an odd outcrop of granite on the West side of Dartmoor. It's the Northernmost and forth in the line of Tors that make up Little, Mid and Great Staple Tor, but Roos Tor sits on the final flank before a vast opening before reaching White Tor or Cocks Hill.

Roos Tor and Great Staple Tor sits between Cox Tor and Great Mis Tor and marks the outskirts of Merrivale Firing Range, used by the MOD for training.

From the Tor it provides a great view 360º looking out West towards the North Devon coast of Hartland and Ilfracombe, looking back over Great Staple, King's and Great Mis Tors, or to the north White Tor and the vast openness of the National Park.

Roos Tor is popular with backpack (wild) campers as it's often forgotten about with Great Staple and Great Mis Tor taking up the view.
