About this spot
Plaça de la Independència is located in the historic center of Girona, near the city's medieval walls. It's a central square that connects several important streets and avenues.
The square has a rich history and has witnessed many significant events in Girona's past. It was originally called "Plaça de la Constitució" and later renamed as "Plaça de la Independència" to commemorate the Spanish War of Independence against the Napoleonic forces in the early 19th century. The square is surrounded by historic buildings, many of which feature beautiful facades and architectural details. Some of these buildings date back to the 19th and early 20th centuries.
