The statue of Pepca and Johanca, a work of Boris Kobe, represents the washer women of Ljubljana. These women, mostly from Bizovik area were offering laundry services to wealthy Ljubljana families and it was a hard work, going from generation to generation.

Pepca and Johanca refer to two names that were popular in Slovenia in old days. English equivalent would be Josephine and Joanna.
