The baroque church of the Virgin Mary assumption at Nova Štifta dates back to the mid 17th century. It is an important pilgrimage church, run by Franciscan monks. The architecture of the church is its main attraction as it features an octagonal nave with 27m high cupola. It's prominent size and shape is visible from afar.
