About this spot
The Alaska Highway, built early in World War II originally ended at Big Delta/Delta Junction. There is an historic marker near this viewpoint. Mt Hayes is a prominent peak in the Alaska Range visible from near the Junction of the Delta and Tanana Rivers and the junction of the Alaska Highway and Richardson Highway. Just south of the viewpoint is Ft. Greeley, U.S. Army post. Much of the area is part of the post and closed to civilians.
