About this spot
Morants Curve was made famous by Nicholas Morant who in the late 20's and early 30's was a promotional photographer for Canadian Pacific Railway. He did a lot to promote the west to the public and recognized the beauty of this open gentle bend in the rail line backdropped by the Rocky Mountains. If you drive there today, it's easy, paved road park, and get your gear but when Nicholas photographed it, that was not the case this was true wilderness requiring hikes in and access. Morants Curve is aptly named after this photographer who did so much to capture the spirit of the western rockies in Canada.
