About this spot
The “Middle Market” is located in the center of the Quadrilatero District. During medieval times the market was a place for food and trade. After the unification of Italy, it was converted into Bologna’s first covered market.

Over the years, the market had fallen into disrepair so in 2014, Mercato di Mezzo went through a major renovation, transforming it into a food hall where you can buy a variety of food and wine. The market features regional produce and freshly made street food to take out or eat in at shared tables.

On the ground floor you will find everything from pasta, bread, meat and cheese platters to dessert and craft beers. There is a pizzeria and restaurant on the second floor, and a beer and wine bar in the basement. This is about as close as you get to “fast food” in Italy.
