About this spot
The mammoth of the Ciutadella Park: the remains of a zoo that did not exist.
The intention was to decorate the entire park with life-size stone figures of extinct animals. The idea was a good one and its merits must be attributed to the geologist Norbert Font i Saqué.
He intended to decorate the entire park with life-size concrete figures of extinct animals (a very new material for this time). But the mammoth was both the first and last figure it was also the last as sadly Norbertus died and the idea for the stone zoo died with him.
