About this spot
The Magok-i-Attari Mosque, situated west of Bukhara's Lyabi-Hauz pond, stands as one of the few pre-Mongol invasion structures in the area. It's believed to have been built atop a temple foundation dating back to Sogdian times. Originally a fire temple, later converted to a mosque, it reflects layers of history with remnants of alabaster decoration and traces of various architectural styles. Today, converted into a carpet museum, it remains an architectural marvel open to visitors for a fee.
