About this spot
After an international competition, the project of the famous architect Santiago Calatrava was chosen. Calatrava's designs are said to be high-profile and he has previously designed stations. He designed the Stadelhofen station in Zurich, Lucerne station, Lyon-Saint-Exupéry TGV station, the Oriente intermodal station in Lisbon and the PATH station in New York.

The station is made of steel, glass, white concrete and Belgian bluestone, and has a monumental roof of 160 m long and 35 m high. The delivery date was originally scheduled for April 2006. Eventually, the grand opening of the station took place on Friday September 18, 2009.
