About this spot
In terms of surface area, Koekelberg Basilica is the fifth largest church in the world, after the Basilique de Notre-Dame de la Paix in Yamoussoukro in Ivory Coast, Saint Peter's Church in Rome, Saint Paul's Cathedral in London and Santa Maria Dei Fiori church in Firenze.
Today the church is primarily a place of prayer for peace.
The basilica is still used for parish celebrations and major national celebrations.

But the Koekelberg Basilica is more than that. It also fulfills an important cultural function. It is a beautiful Art Deco monument, there are two museums, different exhibitions are organized every year and you can enjoy a beautiful panorama of Brussels!
