The whole population was relocated from the old village about 12 miles away to enable the mining of a huge silver deposit. Although the rest of the village is newly built, the 17th century church was dismantled brick by brick and rebuilt.

About this spot
This Jesuit church, and other buildings in the town, was relocated stone by stone from its original location, 20km away, in 1999 to make way for a silver mine. The entrance has twin bell towers and the building's replica thatched roof shows how the church would have looked when it was first built.
