About this spot
The Hopperstad Stave Church in Vik was originally built around 1130, but much of the interior has been removed and replaced over time. One of its most interesting features, the baldachin (or canopy) dates from the 1300s. After the church fell into disrepair, the architect Peter Blix restored it in the 1880s.
