About this spot
Above Sapa is Ham Rong Mountain (Dragon Head). Legend says a dragon couple lived happily in the area until a flash flood appeared while they were playing. The male dragon flew off into the sky, but the female was too exhausted and fell into the water raising her head towards her partner. Over time, her body turned into the majestic Hoang Lien Son mountain range.

Ham Rong is an eco-tourist site—families come to the park to enjoy nature. It is home to over 6,000 orchids with 200 different types. In the gardens you will find hydrangea, geraniums, azaleas, roses, cherry blossom, and Lily of the Nile. There are several varieties of fruit trees including peach, plum and pear. The complex covers 148 hectares.

From the top you have a panoramic view of Sapa. There is a 2.5 km loop trail and along the path there are several stops including the Orchid Garden, Garden of 12 Zodiac Animals, and the Central Flower Garden. The summit is 1,800 meters with a 125-meter ascent.
