About this spot
The Green Iguana Conservation Project was created in 1996 to help protect the species and educate the public about these large lizards which are native to Belize, which are threatened due over hunting. The project raises young iguanas from eggs to juveniles before releasing them into the wild. It also keeps several adults as breeding stock. The project offers tours daily, allowing visitors to personally interact with both adult and juvenile green iguanas.
