About this spot
Teriberka is a rural locality in Russia, located on the Barents Sea coast, in Murmansk Oblast. It's within the Arctic Circle, making it one of the most northern settlements of Russia. The area is known for its rugged natural beauty, including tundra landscapes, polar nights, and the Northern Lights.

The village is somewhat famous for being the filming location for the critically acclaimed film "Leviathan" directed by Andrey Zvyagintsev, which won the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film in 2015.

Teriberka is facing economic challenges and is in a state of decline due to its remote location and the decline of the local fishing industry. Many of the buildings are in disrepair and the population was decreasing. This graveyard of ships reflect this sad state.

The area is, however, a destination for adventurous tourists looking to experience its stark landscapes and glimpse into the life in rural Russia.
