About this spot
The castle was built in the first half of the 16th century as the administrative building of the Idrija Mercury Mine – the second largest mercury mine in the world.

Throughout the centuries it has been expanded and transformed. In the second half of the 18th century the courtyard facade was decorated with frescoes that are now reconstructed and worth all the admiration they are granted.
