About this spot
The City of Rocks National Reserve is a nature reserve managed by the National Park Service. The reserve, and the adjoining Idaho State Parks, Smokey Mountain State Park and Castle Rocks State Park, preserve an area of unusual granitic rock formations described by emigrants on the Californian Trail as "a city of tall spires,” “steeple rocks," and "the silent city." Today, the reserve is especially know for excellent rock climbing.

The Circle Creek Overlook is located along the eastern side of the reserve, giving wide views of the valley east of the reserve and views of various rock formations within the reserve.
