About this spot
Chichester and its Cathedral is one of the most recognized landmark in West Sussex and one to visit and photograph.
Chichester Cathedral is the seat of the Anglican Bishop of Chichester, and it was founded as a cathedral in 1075.
Chichester Cathedral has exquisite architecture in both the Norman and the Gothic styles. The cathedral contains two rare medieval sculptures and many modern artworks, including tapestries, stained glass, and sculpture, many of these commissioned by Walter Hussey.
The spire of Chichester Cathedral, rising above its green copper roof, can be seen for many miles across the flat meadows of West Sussex and is a landmark for sailors, Chichester being the only medieval English cathedral which is visible from the sea.
