The Chichester's Canal Basin is, in fact, part of the former Portsmouth & Arundel Canal. The canal was opened in 1823 and consisted of a 12-mile canal. Today the basin works as a safe harbour for the boats carrying people between Chichester and Chichester Harbour via the Chichester Canal.
