About this spot
Blackpool's central pier is one of three piers along the promenade, constructed of cast iron and wooden decking the pier was opened 1868 with the ferris wheel added in 1990. This addition required reinforcing to the pier's structure. The wheel stands 33 metres above the decking and is visible from all directions.
