About this spot
The Cascada Monumental, also known simply as the Cascada, is a stunning monumental waterfall and fountain located in the Parc de la Ciutadella in Barcelona, Spain. This magnificent architectural and artistic creation is one of the most iconic landmarks within the park and is a significant representation of Catalan architecture and design.

The Cascada Monumental was designed by the Catalan architect Josep Fontsére and built in collaboration with the sculptor Josep Maria Jujol. It was constructed between 1875 and 1881, specifically for the Universal Exhibition held in Barcelona in 1888. The design of the monument is inspired by neoclassical and Baroque styles, and it draws upon elements from various historical periods.
