About this spot
Casa de les Punxes, also known as Casa Terrades, is an iconic modernist building located in the Eixample district of Barcelona, Spain. It is one of the most distinctive and remarkable examples of Catalan modernism and is known for its unique and fantastical design.
Casa de les Punxes was designed by architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch, a contemporary of Antoni Gaudí and one of the leading figures of the Catalan modernist movement.

The building was constructed between 1903 and 1905 for the Terrades sisters, three siblings who owned the triangular plot of land where the building stands. The name "Casa de les Punxes" means "House of Spikes" in Catalan, and it refers to the six pointed turrets that rise from the building's façade, resembling medieval castle turrets.

Casa de les Punxes is a masterpiece of Catalan modernism, characterized by its use of natural materials like brick and stone, intricate wrought-iron details, and a fusion of various architectural styles, including Gothic and Art Nouveau elements.
