About this spot
Bryggen is the historic wharf district of Bergen. It is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site. Many of the the buildings in the district date back to the early 1700s. The whole district is slowly sinking, and many of the buildings are leaning slightly as a result. The history of the district dates back to the 1300s, when the the Hanseatic League was established there, and Bergen was the capital of Norway.
