About this spot
About a mile from the Bonanza City town site, up the West Fork Yankee Fork Road, is the Boothill Cemetery. This was the first cemetery for Bonanza City. However, only 3 people were buried here before it was abandoned in favor of a new, nearby cemetery (see the Bonanza Cemetery spot), which is passed along the road to Boothill, after the rather sordid circumstances surrounding the deaths of three souls buried here.

The three graves belong to Agnes "Lizzie" King and her two husbands, Richard and Robert. After Richard was killed in a fight with a business partner, Lizzie took up with, Charles Franklin, a friend of the family. It looked like they would be wed, but first Lizzie took a trip to Montana to look for employees for her dance hall. She returned on the arm of Robert Hawthorne and they were soon married. Six days later, both were found shot to death. Charles soon left the area. Years later, he was found dead in a secluded cabin, clutching a locket containing a photo of Lizzie.
