About this spot
Sunday is market day in Bac Ha. This is not a location you would shoot in black and white. Bac Ha is all about color. The neighboring tribes come to trade and socialize—and they will all be dressed in their Sunday best. The Bac Ha District is the capital of the Flower Hmong, but you will see other ethnic minority tribes from the rural villages.

The market starts early in the morning and continues until early afternoon. The earlier you arrive the better. There are stalls spread out on either side of the main road and perhaps the best way to experience the market is to wander. You will see it all—from colorful textiles, food, and souvenirs to the live animal market with chickens, horses, and water buffalo.
