About this spot
The Bab el-Khamis gate may not attract as much attention as its bigger cousin Bab Mansour gate, but it is nonetheless beautiful and impressive.
Built in the 17th century, the gate is one of 12 gates that encircle the historic medina of Meknes. Its arch is filled with intricate zellij in blues, greens, and browns which provide a beautiful contrast to the sand-coloured walls of the medina.
