Alpe Prabello

This is a mountain hike, please be prepared, check weather forecast, follow the trail, leave nothing behind and if possible leave the place a little better than how you found it. Please be careful not to damage anything here, respect the wildlife that lives in the area. Be respectful of Nature in general.

Alpe Prabello is a beautiful and idyllic group of traditional cabins at the feet of Monte Scalino, an iconic peak in Valtellina. It is a very popolar destination for families due to the easy hike and the incredible settings. In summer it is possible to buy homemade cheese from the local "alpigiani". The cheese is made every day from the cows and goats that freely roam the basin. The local mountain hut, Rifugio Cristina, is a great place to eat some traditional food of the valley and to spend the night. It is usually the starting point for mountaineers headed to climb Pizzo Scalino from the Cornetto or Ometti route.
There is also a beautiful little church, Chiesa della Madonna della Pace, first built in 1919 and modified in the '20.
