This area is otherworldly...you have these amazing huge chocolate colored boulders at the foot of the beautiful Sierra Mountain range that consists of Mt Whitney. Many months of the year you can find this Mountain range covered in snow which offers a very contrasting environment. You can actually camp in this location. But be do know it can get very windy and cold, so be prepared!
